It was an amazing story。 The plot started right off the bat where it left us。 Eira slowly but steadily became more confident and understanding towards herself。 The one thing that remains constant in her life is her friends and the power to make one。 I loved the new characters introduced and the bonding between everyone thriving。 Though something was seemingly brewing between Eiras’ mates🤭。The Tournament Games, for which we were all eager。 Great Appreciation to Elise for planning the games with such precise execution。 I absolutely adored the ideas and theme of it。  Each game is planned with perfection👌。But somehow the anticipation of catching Ulvarth was more overwhelming than the enthusiasm for the games。It felt as if the tournaments were played down。 Nevertheless, the plot, the characters, and the entire story came together。 I had a great time reading it。 You cannot have a story by Elise Kova without leaving the readers on the edge of their seats。 I can't wait to get my hands on the next book。 。。。more

Review: This series just gets better and better for me。 But I love all of Elise’s books and all the different interconnected worlds。 Eira has always been one of my favourite characters and how she has to justify all her actions before the trials。 This book has so many twists it will give you whiplash but I am so I。 Love with this series and all the characters and adventures。

I couldn't put this book down! I absolutely loved this!I will confess I debated rating between 4。5 stars and 5 stars, but in the end Elise Kova did exactly what I wanted her to do。And I'm so amazed at the world that she created! I can't believe I will have to wait a full year for the next book - hey, I'm not complaining。Alright, so we were left heartbroken with the end of the last book, when Eira killed at the ball and found out that Cullen was engaged。 And boy。。。 did that hurt! I started this book hoping that we wouldn't have to brush either of those feelings aside and for Eira to really start a journey to heal herself, as people in her life, those who are suppose to be her support, always let her down somewhat。And that's exactly what happened。 Eira's gave herself time to figure things out on her own, had amazing open conversations with Cullen and Fritz, and overall just tried her best。I really enjoyed that we got to meet new characters and explore more of her situation with the Shadows as well。 Although I will say I really wanted to slap Vi, she is just。。。 so manipulative。 I hated her confession to be using Eira the whole time, honestly。。。 - not that I'm surprised, she was never my favorite。I also enjoyed the tournament, and how despite not being the central focus of the story, I thought it was quite balanced with the plot, and my competitive side loved that Eira's won in the end (as she should!!)。 It was very interesting to see her development, because we start this series with Eira wanted to participate on this tournament more than everything, and when it was actually happening, she realized there were more important things she needed to deal with。What I enjoy the most of these stories is Eira's journey, and how we were allowed to see her growth even when nothing seems to be her way。 The book really sealed as a 5 star reading for me when she didn't rush to forgive everyone who hurt her (her parents, Fritz, and Cullen), all the while she still loves them somehow, she, for once, is choosing herself first。 And I'm all for it。 And how she learned how to ask for the help of her friends, without having to deal with everything alone。 I can't help it, I just love Eira to bits!I honestly don't know how I will survive a full year waiting for the following book, but I hope everyone who hurt her will crawl at her feet :) 。。。more

Such an epic tale! I love Kovas Air Awakens universe and this did not fall short! We get more royalty, a main character who sets her own rules, fantastic magic system that continues to expand, and a love triangle of sorts。 Ok, I hate love triangles but somehow Kova makes that even less painful than normal。 The games take a back seat to the real problem of the day and secrets upon secrets slowly unfold。

She makes it so easy to lose yourself in the world and characters she created。 I found this book on par with the first in the series and really enjoyed myself while reading! I love how the plot progressed and we finally got to The Tournament of Five Kingdoms! I was anticipated that particular event to finally happen and it did not disappoint! I loved the dueling and the way we learned more about the other kingdoms and their powers! Such a nice way for the world to expand even more while staying at the same place the whole time。The book felt more character focused than plot, and the characters really did shine in this book。 We really saw them grow more and not just the main cast! I loved the side characters, what they brought to the story in terms of humor, tension and more。 I did feel like Eira could’ve grown more。 In the end, while she did grow, it didn’t really feel like a lot, while others did seem to grow way more (like Alyss and Olivin)。 I feel like she grew steady at the start, but kinda stalled after that。 Cullen has grown a bit, but has a loooooong way to go hahaha。 Also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I recently read Earth’s End and never linked Fritz in both books, until he said to Eira that the empress is his Alyss… I honestly felt so dumb for never seeing that! The romance wasn’t as prominent as it could’ve been, but I really applaud Eira with how she dealt with it all。 After learning of Cullens engagement, not letting herself be sidestepped, GO GIRL! I also really liked the connecting she has with Olivin。 (view spoiler)[ I like her better with Olivin and really hope they will end together instead of her and Cullen。 As of right now, Cullen doesn’t deserve Eira with how he acts。 He sure talks big with nothing to back up his words! (hide spoiler)]That ending though! Damn that one took me by surprise! I really should start expecting the cliffhanger endings, as they are often found in Kova’s books, but still I was blown away! 2024 seems so far away waiting for book 4 T_T Overall, A Tournament of Crowns was an amazing continuation of the series and I can’t wait to see how the story will progress in An Heir of Frost! 。。。more

I definitely think this is my favorite Elise Kova book yet! I was enthralled since page one and BASICALLY sped through this entire book!! Everything came together beautifully in this book from the new characters to the complex politics。 I seriously wish I could forget what happened so I could reread again for the first time!!

The angst, everyone。 I live for it。 🙃The tournament element was so cool, and brought up some really interesting challenges when dealing with the villains in the plot。 And as always— what was that ending Elise!? Leave some of my heart next time, thanks。 。。。more

How good the sexual tension was? The pining。 My god。 Also, the jealousy? The way Elise had me rooting and rolling my eyes – I loved it。 Each book in this series has been so great, but when I tell you I inhaled the first 25% of it in one sitting and had I not had work the next morning, I probably would have stayed up all night。 I broke my reading of this book up over a few days, and I wanted to inhale the rest of it each night, but those early wake up calls are a killer。 What I mean to say is – be prepared to not put this book down。 It’s so good and so much happens plot wise。 Be ready。 If you’re like me and you’ve been a fan of Elise’s books and the Air Awakens world in particular, you need to pick this book up。 Though, go read books 1 and 2 first。 You can check the full spoiler free review of A Tournament of Crowns and my many other Elise Kova book reviews at Writing the Universe 。。。more

The pacing of this book I thought was done really well。 I did think the story jumped around a bit but with the style of the tournament it allowed for multiple things to be happening at once while still making sense。 The last 15% of the book flew by and I had to reread the ending again to make sure I understood what actually happened。 It was chaotic but in an exciting way。 I really didn’t see the final twist coming from one of my favorite side characters。 Overall this was an excellent book and I highly recommend this series。 Since these books happen in sequence you have to have read the first 2 to understand what is happening in this one。 I think this is my favorite out of the 3 and I’m eagerly waiting for the 4th! Thank you Elise and Silver Wing Press for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review! So happy with it。 The ending was insane! Eira has grown so much as a character in this book and the story has grown so much as well。 I really enjoyed the tournament parts even more than in the other books and loved all the action and heartwarming scenes。 Elise Kova has outdone herself again! All of the little things in the book add up at the end so well and it takes a really talented author to do that。 Thankyou to Elisa Kova for my arc!

-Thank you to the author for an eARC of this book。 Receiving an ARC in no way influenced my review-I cannot handle this series。 It seriously just gets better and better。 Eira has grown SO much as our lead character, and I love that we get to see so much of the other competitors this time around。 Elise is a master at having her characters growth match the sequence of events in her books。 Eira still makes mistakes, but she's learning and making new and better decisions the whole time。This book fin -Thank you to the author for an eARC of this book。 Receiving an ARC in no way influenced my review-I cannot handle this series。 It seriously just gets better and better。 Eira has grown SO much as our lead character, and I love that we get to see so much of the other competitors this time around。 Elise is a master at having her characters growth match the sequence of events in her books。 Eira still makes mistakes, but she's learning and making new and better decisions the whole time。This book finally focused on the competition and, to be honest, that was a little lackluster。 I enjoyed the competition originally held in Solaris much more。 However, I think this book was more about what was happening around the competition, and I could easily sympathize with Eira's frustrations about more important things every time we had to go back to the collesium。The ending。 OH MY GOD the ending。 I legit didn't see it coming。 I have read so many books and seen so many twist and turns, but I just didn't expect this one。 I was practically vibrating with anticipation while reading the last 2 hours of the book, just waiting for the other shoe to drop。 I think this series is the strongest series yet out of all of Elise's stories and I could not reccomend it more。 I absolutely cannot wait for books。 。。。more

I was so excited when I received this ARC! After devouring the book in less than two days here is my review。 Twists, turns, and new characters that I absolutely adore! I love getting to watch characters grow like that! I was so excited to finally make it to the tournament! The games were magical and strategical! It was cool to learn about the different types of powers each character has and to get to see that magic in action。 The side characters, as always, are amazing。 I love the friendships and sacrifices the friends are willing to make for each other。 I love Olivin。。so much! The ENDING!!! Omg。 I need book 4。。now。 。。。more

This was a solid continuation of this series。 We get so much more of these characters and their relationships。 In this one, we got back to the competition which is something I missed in the second one。 Some of them were short because Eira wasn't in them, but they were overall really fun to read。 We got a peek at the different magics from the different places。 At first, one of my downfalls of this book was how the plot skipped around。 Come to find out, my digital copy was missing chapters。 So I w This was a solid continuation of this series。 We get so much more of these characters and their relationships。 In this one, we got back to the competition which is something I missed in the second one。 Some of them were short because Eira wasn't in them, but they were overall really fun to read。 We got a peek at the different magics from the different places。 At first, one of my downfalls of this book was how the plot skipped around。 Come to find out, my digital copy was missing chapters。 So I went back and reread the chapters I missed once I downloaded it onto my kindle with all the chapters。 It was a little confusing going back and reading a few previous chapters here and there, but that was no fault of the actual book, just my weird first copy I downloaded。I liked getting to know Eira more and watch her grow as a character。 I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, but I think this one was handled pretty well and I didn't absolutely hate it。 I liked getting to know Olivin and some of the other competitors and really loved getting more of Alyss, Noelle and Cullen。 A lot happened in this book besides the competition。 Ulvarth shows his face, Olivin's brother goes missing, Fritz shows up to help with healing in the competition and stuff I don't want to spoil。 We have intense questions that we don't know the answers to and are left hanging for the next book。 I already can't wait to read it and find out what happens!Thank you to Elise Kova and Book of Matches Media for a copy of this book! 。。。more

I’ve just finished this book and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more! There is character development, romance, there is finally the tournament and there are so many twists! Some of them I could predict, some of them I really couldn’t。 And that ending has really left me wanting for more! “You're so busy pleasing everyone else that you don't bother to please yourself and you let everyone else down in the process because it's impossible to be everything for everyone, Cullen。 The leas I’ve just finished this book and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more! Also, I am a big fan of Olivin… I truly can’t wait to find out what happens next! I have no clue! I’ve loved this book so much and I’m heartbroken that I’ll have to wait another year for book 4! I’d definitely recommend reading this series, it’s so worth it! 。。。more
